acaricie-me
™
I started out life in one of the world's most unique locations. And as a native of Louisiana, born in 1960, the culture of the state was still transforming, and I believe will forever be transforming.
I describe this poly-culture as Havana Louisiana. It's not a physical place, it is a lifestyle and a state of mind. And yet, when you are in that state of mind and living the essence of that lifestyle in the moment, you feel transcended to some place.
For example, in my native tongue of english, there isn't a word for the following experience. However, there is a word from my poly-culture, and that word is cafuné.
The word cafuné is Portuguese. Portugal and Spain share the same land mass, for those who don't know. This word was carried to Louisiana from migrants who traveled to New Orleans via the Caribbean island of Cuba. In a single word, cafuné describes the experience shared between two people whereby one person gently runs their fingers through the other's hair; caressing that person's hair while also giving them a gentle massaging their head. Now in some context this can be a very passionate experience. In others, it is simply kindness. But in all cases, the human touch of cafuné is a shared intimate experience.
Whether between passionate lovers or not, cafuné can be ... transcendent. The kind of transcendence that makes you forget about everything else in your world, if only for a moment. And in that moment for both of you, it can send chills and goosebumps down your spines.
That's the mission of Cafuné Coffee -- to create spaces in places throughout the world where humanity can disconnect from the hustle and bustle and digital diversions of our lives, and reconnect with humanity, with elegance and grace, with simply -- being and sharing the human experience."
